<p>(â€¦) Que les images dâ€™horreur renvoient Ă  notre propre mort, câ€™est un fait. Mais qui alors ose sâ€™interroger sur sa rĂ©alitĂ© la plus tangibleÂ : Ă  savoir son heure et lâ€™attitude dans laquelle elle nous laissera, que ce soit dans un lit ou ailleursÂ ? Ce sont prĂ©cisĂ©ment ces Ă©tats indicibles que Serrano Â«Â met en scĂ¨neÂ Â». Afin de Â«Â redonner une existence Ă  des gens qui seraient passĂ©s dans une autre rĂ©alitĂ© que la nĂ´treâ€¦ afin de trouver la vie dans la mortâ€¦Â Â», explique-t-il. Sans doute et on le croit. Et pourtant, ce que nous voyons va bien au-delĂ Â : en photographiant en plan serrĂ© des plaies ouvertes, un visage brĂ»lĂ©, des ongles noircis par les besoins dâ€™une autopsieâ€¦ des dĂ©tails de la peau qui nâ€™autorisent plus aucun doute â€“ le sujet photographiĂ© est un sujet mort, Andres Serrano nâ€™utilise pas la mort comme tĂ©moignage du vivant. Il suspend le tempsÂ : il reprĂ©sente une image intermĂ©diaire entre la vie et la mort, souvent bien plus vraie que celle que les vivants se feront par la suite de notre absence au monde.</p>
<p>Il photographie Â«Â une surface ensommeillĂ©e qui sâ€™Ă©veilleraitÂ Â», pour reprendre les mots de Daniel Arasse. Et qui nâ€™aurait pas fini de nous hanter.</p>

<p>â€” Au fond, cette couleur verdĂ˘tre gĂ©nĂ©rale, câ€™est assez dĂ©goĂ»tant, ces viscĂ¨res, ces entrailles humaines mises Ă  dĂ©couvert, câ€™est lâ€™organique au profit de lâ€™apparence. Sois persuadĂ© RenĂ©, que câ€™est pourtant celles qui nous constituentÂ : câ€™est ce Â«Â mouÂ Â» qui agit le Â«Â durÂ Â».</p>
<p>â€” Pas seulement. Ce nâ€™est pas quâ€™incongru ou monstrueux. Ces glandes, ces neurones, ces tissus cellulaires, sont habitĂ©s par des petits ĂŞtres, petits gĂ©nies ou petits dĂ©mons noirs visibles, dans le crĂ˘ne reprĂ©sentĂ© de lâ€™artiste. Des fantĂ´mes supposĂ©s hanter son esprit comme dans <em>Bon Ă  rien</em>.</p>
